Commtouch(R), developer of anti-spam security solutions, announced a software licensing agreement enabling VirusBuster to integrate Commtouch's anti-spam engine into its MailShield for SMTP appliance.

Commtouch's anti-spam engine offers the unprecedented capability to identify and block spam in real time. It was chosen to complement VirusBuster's existing statistical spam filter, which features heuristics, whitelists, blacklists and RBL and supports multiple spam databases.

"Commtouch's RPD was the best anti-spam technology we found. It is not only effective against all kinds of unwanted emails, but it is durable and capable of staying ahead of spammers' evolving methods," said Peter Agocs, development director at VirusBuster. "By integrating Commtouch technology into our offerings, we have created a robust and comprehensive spam filtering solution that is affordable, easy to integrate and easy to deploy."

VirusBuster, headquartered in Budapest, Hungary, is a developer and provider of anti-virus and anti-spam solutions for enterprises and ISPs. VirusBuster products are available through partners in Europe, South and North America and other countries around the world. "Commtouch's new licensing agreement with VirusBuster is significant because it will increase our market share in Europe," says Ronni Zehavi, vice president of International Business Development at Commtouch. "It also strengthens our global leadership position in the area of anti-spam software licensing." The Commtouch anti-spam engine is embedded in a rapidly growing range of security products, and protects over 25 million users worldwide.
