Juniper Networks, Inc. announced that The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has deployed Juniper Networks security solutions to protect its network. Juniper Networks ASIC-based deep inspection firewalls and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDP) will provide high-strength security for SET's network assets, actively defending against hacking threats and scanning SET's network for anomalies including potential viruses.

The SET will deploy Juniper Networks firewall appliances to protect its mission-critical assets, including its server array, and utilize the Juniper Networks IDP solution to monitor critical financial trading traffic.

"Very few environments are more critical to a country than its stock exchange," said Santi Sa-Nguansup, Deputy VP of IT security, at SET's Network Operations department. "We have been very prudent in selecting only the best security measures for our infrastructure, with high reliability and an exhaustive range of protection to manage all manner of threats to our vital resources. We were impressed by the extensive functionality of the Juniper Networks security portfolio, and are confident our network is now fully protected."

Juniper Networks pioneered the hardware firewall design, and its security appliances are based on purpose-built ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) for high reliability and performance. The combination of firewall appliances and IDP systems provide a synergistic set of protection measures, with IDP functionality to identify network threats and anomalies, and session-based stateful algorithms to monitor network activity.

"The Stock Exchange of Thailand business case is a perfect example of the value Juniper Networks security solutions bring to customers," said Brad Gray, vice president, Asia South Pacific, Juniper Networks. "The Stock Exchange requires solutions that protect mission-critical assets, and deliver best performance and value for its infrastructure investments. We are very pleased that our network security portfolio has been recognized for its industry-leading design and deployed to protect such a significant national resource."

About The Stock Exchange of Thailand

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) stands at the center of Thailand's capital markets. Established in 1975, the SET is a thriving, dynamic exchange offering a full range of products, services and trading infrastructure for investors, listed companies and other participants.

In line with its goal to position itself as a single, unified market for investors, the SET launched a new bond market exchange in 2003 to facilitate the trade of corporate bonds. The SET further plans to follow with the launch of a new derivatives market to offer futures, options and other products in 2005.

Although much has been achieved since its establishment, the SET maintains its commitment to continuous improvement through the introduction of new products and services, technological innovations and infrastructure development to enable the Thai capital market to support Thailand's future economic growth.
