CyberGuard Corporation, provider of security solutions that protect the critical components of the largest and most complex information networks for Global 2000 enterprises and government organizations, today announced that it has integrated award-winning anti-virus technology from Sophos into its Webwasher Content Security Management Product line.

Through this partnership, CyberGuard's Webwasher AG subsidiary is licensing Sophos's virus detection engine to enhance the latest version of its Webwasher CSM Suite 5.1 and Webwasher Anti Virus 5.1. The Sophos-powered virus detection and disinfection software will also be available in CyberGuard's WW1000 appliance.

"CyberGuard/Webwasher and Sophos both are very interesting IT security players with excellent technology and a complementary market focus," said Brian Burke, IDC. "This partnership should benefit customers around the world focused on integrating powerful technology to address the most pressing security threats."

"Our goal is to provide enterprise customers with the most comprehensive security solutions to protect their critical infrastructure," said Dr. Horst Joepen, SVP of Strategic Alliances at CyberGuard. "Partnering with Sophos will give our customers world-class anti-virus technology to guard against the proliferation of viruses they face everyday. This partnership fits well with our strategy to offer comprehensive core-to-edge enterprise protection to customers across the globe."

CyberGuard's Webwasher suite is designed for enterprise customers and provides a high performance gateway content security solution, enabling usage of the Internet without risks and nuisance. The powerful content security solution even protects against combined attacks -- known as blended threads -- from the Internet.

"We see this new partnership as an opportunity to continue channeling our first-class technologies into high-end segments of the IT security market -- an area in which CyberGuard is a stronger player," said Richard Baldry, Director of Strategic Alliances at Sophos.

Webwasher Content Security Management Suite 5.1 with the Sophos virus detection engine is currently available from CyberGuard's worldwide network of distributors. For more information visit http://www.cyberguard.com.
