Details:
* More than 1,800 IT security decision makers, 120 exhibitors and more than 25 Gartner analysts will discuss the tools and strategies needed to deliver appropriate levels of security and privacy protection with minimal risk, cost, and complexity to their organization. Anticipated attendance exceeds actual attendance at the 2004 Conference by approximately 20 percent.
* Keynote panel guests will discuss the complex issues facing IT security professionals now and in the future. Panelists include:
* Bob Woodward, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter and assistant managing editor, The Washington Post
* Bruce Schneier, renowned security technologist and best selling author
* Howard Schmidt, former White House cyber-security advisor and Chief Security Strategist of the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team
* Robert Cressey, former Chief of Staff to the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board
* Amit Yoran, former Director National Cyber-security Division, Department of Homeland Security
* Phil Maier, Vice President Information Security, Emerging Technology, Visa/Inovant
* Special Conference features include:
* CyberCzar Panel: The Government and CyberSecurity. Mr. Woodward will moderate a panel with former CyberCzars as they debate the government's role in regulating information security. They'll discuss whether new laws are required to defend the public's safety in cyberspace. The CyberCzar Panel is scheduled Monday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. In addition, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Mr. Woodward will describe his current book research on decision-making in the Bush White House. He also will comment on his reporting ties with onetime FBI senior official W. Mark Felt. Mr. Felt revealed himself this week as the secret "Deep Throat" informant during the 1970s Watergate scandal.
* Zombies on Trial: Who is Liable. In this mock trial, plaintiffs sue for lapses in security. The audience will serve as the jury, asking questions before they return a verdict. The case will address the question if defendants, comprised of corporate networks, Internet service providers, universities and providers such as Internet cafes, should be held liable for injury cause by "zombie" PCs within their domains.
* First ever Gartner IT Security Innovation Awards. Award nominees are evaluated by a team of Gartner analysts and industry experts. The winner will present their most successful IT security initiatives to attendees.
* Results from Gartner's survey on IT security spending and investment priorities. The results from the survey of more than 130 global enterprises, 75 percent of which are companies with more than $1 billion in annual revenue will be unveiled at the event.

* Gartner's senior IT security analysts and other industry experts will present practical and strategic advice on topics ranging from ongoing threats that jeopardize electronic commerce such as spyware and phishing, to challenges surrounding improved solutions for network access control, as well as ROI, regulatory compliance, and business alignment. Topics include: defensive strategies, authentication and access, security and operations, managing information security, biometrics, VoIP, and emerging technologies.
