Wick Hill appointed as prime distributor for new behavioural security solution

French-based SkyRecon, Europe’s leading vendor of distributed behavioural security products, is launching its new StormShield software in the UK and has appointed Wick Hill as prime UK distributor.

StormShield is the first proactive, real-time automatic defence system that recognises and blocks dangerous behaviour before it can harm any desktop or laptop - inside or outside the corporate network. Without the need for updates or patches, StormShield provides transparent ‘zero-day’ protection against new virus attacks, spyware, keylogging and ID and information theft without any IT intervention or end-user interference.

In a new IDC study, Navigating the Client Security Fog: Helping the Enterprise Solve the Endpoint Security Crisis, IDC reports that IT managers are gearing up to deploy endpoint security (EPS) in increasing numbers and 64% of respondents stated that they already had some EPS in place.

StormShield marks a breakthrough in enterprise-wide EPS and usage policy enforcement. From an easy-to-use central management console, it is quick and simple to configure and deploy any number of different security and usage policies for different groups of local, remote or mobile users. StormShield uses advanced artificial intelligence technology that operates at the Windows kernel level to detect dangerous actions, abnormal use of the network, deletion of files or unauthorised manipulation of code, for example. Once a policy profile has been deployed, it continues to function wherever and however the end-point device is used and cannot be modified or disabled.

"Traditional static security and policy enforcement products can’t cope with the increasing number of threats for users in and outside the corporate network and by the time a new virus, trojan or other malicious attack has happened, it’s too late to organise defences,” says Ian Kilpatrick, managing director at Wick Hill. "StormShield provides a powerful new behavioural approach that puts organisations one step ahead again by providing defence to the network as well as ensuring that security polices are applied by enforcing security and usage policies.”

In a recent PwC survey it was reported that despite 93% of companies having virus protection, 50% of UK businesses suffered from virus infection or denial of service attacks last year. This is because anti-virus products and firewalls only protect against attacks they are ready for.

"StormShield uses advanced behavioural analysis technology that protects each PC - including network activity, operating system and applications - without necessitating signature updating when a new type of attack appears,” says Ravy Truchot, president and CEO at SkyRecon. "With a strong position in mainland Europe, we see Wick Hill as the ideal partner to mirror our success in the UK market and promote the need for such a solution to protect increasingly distributed environments.”
