Wick Hill appointed as prime UK distributor

French-based NETASQ is planning to take on companies such as Cisco, Fortinet and Juniper with the UK launch of its powerful range of high-performance UTM (Unified Threat Management) appliances, designed to meet the security needs of all types of networks. NETASQ has appointed Wick Hill as its prime UK distributor to spearhead this attack on a growing UK market.

NETASQ appliances include all the functions to protect small, midsized and large enterprises as well as service providers and remote users with real-time intrusion prevention, network and application firewall, advanced content filtering, embedded Kaspersky antivirus, antispam, antispyware, URL filtering, IPSEC and SSL VPN and bandwidth management.

Based on NETASQ’s advanced real-time intrusion prevention technology ASQ, these new UTM appliances offer multi-layer security without compromising performance and throughput and provide a simple to use, centralised management interface. NETASQ appliances have been tested and approved by the Tolly Group, ICSA Labs and have obtained EAL2+ Common Criteria certification.

The recent IDC study, Western Europe Security Appliance 2005-2009 Forecast and 2004 Competitive Vendor Shares, reported a 66% growth in the security appliance market in 2004 and predicted UTM devices will exhibit the strongest growth of 61% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) between 2004-2009. IDC also predicts that in 2009, UTM security appliances will be the primary category, constituting around 50% of Western European security appliance revenue.

"We are seeing increasing demand for all-in-one UTM solutions from companies and organisations of all types and sizes,” says Ian Kilpatrick, managing director at Wick Hill.

Kilpatrick adds, "While there is an increasing number products in this market, unlike many other UTM vendors NETASQ has managed to combine all the security features along with IPSec and SSL VPN remote access functionality without any reduction in speed and performance. With its price performance we expect it to be an attractive alternative to products from companies such as Cisco, Fortinet and Juniper.”

"NETASQ has already earned its position as the European leader of UTM solutions with subsidiaries in Belgium, Germany and Italy and an international network of certified partners,” said Jean-Pierre Tomaszek, NETASQ’s CEO. "We now want to focus on the UK and Wick Hill, with its impressive security portfolio, experience and reseller base, is the ideal partner to accelerate our growth and take advantage of the UK market for UTM appliances.”
