Cybertrust is Certified as PCI Security Standards Council Approved Scanning Vendor

Cybertrust®, the global information security specialist, announced today that it has successfully completed the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SCC) Approved Scanning Vendors testing process and has been certified to be able to perform PCI assessments according to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). This is the first certification under PCI SSC; Cybertrust was previously certified as an ASV by MasterCard.

The PCI Data Security Standard, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International, requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adopt information security controls and processes to ensure data integrity. Participating payment brands require PCI DSS compliance reports by a certified third-party assessor for merchants and service providers that process credit card transactions to achieve compliance. More information on the council and the standard can be found at www.pcisecuritystandards.org.

As an Approved Scanning Vendor, Cybertrust is certified to help merchants manage data security risks and evaluate the security of their systems that store payment account data and assist them in achieving compliance with the PCI DSS.

Cybertrust selected nCircle as its scanning vendor, integrating nCircle's Certified PCI Scan solution into its Online Compliance Program (OCP). Cybertrust has achieved approved status by subjecting OCP to rigorous testing on the council's infrastructure. In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, the PCI DSS certification reassures merchants that they are being assessed accurately and fairly against the most current payment industry requirements.

"The PCI Security Standards Council is committed to helping everyone involved in the payment chain protect consumer payment data. By participating in the ASV certification process, Cybertrust demonstrates they are playing an active part in this important end goal," said Seana Pitt, chairperson, PCI Security Standards Council.

"The PCI Data Security Standard continues to be an important element in the protection of sensitive credit card data," said Kerry Bailey, Cybertrust senior vice president of global services. "Cybertrust is pleased to earn the distinction of being recognized by the PCI Security Standards Council as both a Qualified Security Assessor and an Approved Scanning Vendor, as we provide our customers with a holistic, proactive approach to managing security in compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard."
