ArcSight Positioned In The Leaders Quadrant For Security Information And Event Management

Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

ArcSight, Inc. today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Leaders Quadrant in the 'Security Information and Event Management 1Q07 Magic Quadrant' report by Mark Nicolett and Kelly Kavanagh, published on 9th May 2007.

"We consider our positioning in the leaders quadrant by Gartner confirmation of ArcSight's mission to enable customers to intelligently identify and mitigate security threats, insider attacks and compliance breaches," said Tom Reilly, Chief Operating Officer at ArcSight. "ArcSight continues to innovate; delivering truly revolutionary products that will change the face of the SIEM industry and further enhance our market position."

ArcSight today announced ArcSight ESM 4.0, introducing the industry's first integrated identity and role-based correlation capabilities. ArcSight ESM 4.0 provides a single view into all events across a multitude of enterprise infrastructures and associates those events to the users that cause them, enabling intelligent identification, prioritisation and response to external security threats, insider threats and compliance requirements. According to the report, "Security information and event management functional requirements are rapidly changing as the technology is adopted broadly to solve compliance and security gaps." The report continues, "A solution that is optimal for the current market will support real time collection and analysis of log data from host systems, security devices and network devices; will support long-term storage and reporting; will not require extensive customisation; and will be easy to support and maintain."

Gartner, Inc.'s Magic Quadrant positions vendors in a particular market segment based on their vision and ability to execute. "Leaders" are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. In the Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management, execution criteria included overall viability, sales execution and pricing, and effectiveness of the product in customer production environments. The vision criteria included market understanding, sales strategy, product strategy, and innovation.
