Today AppGate Network Security has announced the launch of the new AppGate Secure Mobile Office. The security functions of the AppGate Secure Mobile Office make it possible for operators to deliver highly-demanded mobile services in a secure and cost-effective way to their customers. The AppGate Secure Mobile Office solution is built on the latest technology from Sun, the Sun Netra™ T5220 carrier-grade server, technology that is renowned in the industry for its high security, stability and flexibility.

AppGate Mobile Secure Mobile Office is not just a simple push email solution since it actually sets up a secure VPN tunnel between the user’s mobile phone and the operator, and between the operator and the customer’s gateway. This makes it possible for the user to get secure email access, and even to reach everything on intranet web servers, in a secure way. The system has built-in support for roaming and the phone client will automatically reconnect to the system after a network failure with no need for the user to log in again. To make it easy for the users to be up and running, all settings in the phone are automatically installed via "over the air provisioning (OTP)” and the solution works on any smartphone. The solution demands only a small appliance box to be installed at the customer’s site with minimal configuration work involved.

According to Goran Marby, CEO at AppGate: "This solution makes it possible for operators to launch their own branded security solutions for e-mail and Intranet web access with minimum hassle. Due to the simplicity of getting the phones ready to use and the minimal installation required at the customer’s site, this product will change the market for Mobile Secure Access forever and open up new revenue possibilities for Mobile Operators.”

"We welcome this new solution from AppGate that was designed to enable secure access to business critical information from virtually any device, place or environment," said Mark Butler, Netra systems product line director, Sun Microsystems. "With ISV partners like AppGate, customers can really benefit from the best of two worlds: outstanding security software solutions from AppGate and carrier-grade hardware from Sun. Combining the Netra T5220 server with AppGate Secure Mobile Office you will get an appliance with the Solaris™ 10 Operating System for performance, availability and security."

The AppGate concept makes it easy to administer complex security requirements and enables system administrators to manage corporate policies and compliance from one central point. Security Servers can be clustered by the operator to support virtually an unlimited number of users.
