Trend Micro, Inc. (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, today announced that the company will be showcasing its new solutions for comprehensive home network security during the CeBIT show beginning this week. These solutions are based on technology from Trend Micro for home networks, and are made possible through collaboration with several leading integrated hardware vendors (IHVs) and network equipment providers. CeBIT is the world’s leading showplace for information technology and telecommunications.

By the end of 2007, there will be over 65 million home networks worldwide, according to a report by high-tech market research firm In-Stat/MDR (“Digital Domicile 2003: Home Networking Goes Hollywood”, March 2003). Home networks are typically comprised of multiple PCs and a router in one household using a broadband connection. These networks can be difficult and expensive to manage, with multiple machines running various security software and different versions of software, and can expose customers to network viruses and worms and hackers due to the ‘always-on’ nature of broadband access.

“The increasing prevalence of multi-PC households combined with the rapid adoption of broadband and home networking has created a challenging environment for consumers wanting to protect themselves from the latest Internet security threats," commented Beau Roberts, Director of Product Management for Consumer Products at Trend Micro. “Through combining our expertise with that of our home network hardware vendors, Trend Micro will be able to address consumer's home network security and management concerns in a uniquely simplified and cost-effective way.”

Trend Micro’s technology will enable IHVs to create the next generation of “secure” home routers and gateways that are designed to protect customers with home or small office networks from viruses, hackers, and other Internet security threats. Customers will have the necessary tools to centrally manage their security needs for multiple PCs, such as allowing varying levels of access controls for different family members. Through a subscription process, customers purchase, install, register, update and renew their security software - a single transaction will initiate security for the entire network, saving time and money compared to installing and registering multiple software copies. Through select service providers, customers in households with small children can enable parental controls, providing them additional peace of mind while requiring minimal configuration.

Trend Micro expects to provide their technology for home routers and gateways through such leading providers as Accton Technology Corporation (www.accton.com), Arcadyan Technology Corporation (www.arcadyan.com), Billion Electric Co. Ltd. (www.billion.com), Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn) (www.foxconn.com), and ZyXEL Communications Corp (www.zyxel.com).

Trend Micro will be demonstrating their home network security technology during the CeBIT show from March 18-24, 2004. Availability of home router and gateway products featuring Trend Micro’s technology is expected in Q3 2004.
