Sana Security Achieves KeyLabs Product Certification

Sana Security, Inc., provider of host-based intrusion prevention software (HIPS), today announced that Primary Response, its flagship product, has undergone extensive simulated production environment testing by KeyLabs, the industry's premier technology assurance solution provider. The results show that Primary Response scales to defend dynamic, enterprise production environments and successfully isolates the security posture of protected applications.
"We were impressed by the performance of Primary Response. The agents installed without a server reboot allowing easy deployment to production servers without interrupting service," said Wade Benson, test lead of KeyLabs. "During the evaluation process we attacked it with worms like Blaster and Slammer and the attacks were successfully repelled. The Adaptive Profiling features proved very capable of scaling critical host-based intrusion prevention across the enterprise and managing constant change in those environments."
"We respect KeyLabs as a marquee testing provider in the technology sector," said Timothy Eades, senior vice president of marketing at Sana Security. "The result of this evaluation is a significant proof point for the need to protect against known and unknown threats, and further attests to our continued momentum in providing leading-edge security solutions to meet enterprise demands."
KeyLabs tested Primary Response in an environment modeled after today's leading enterprise production systems. The Sana agent and management solution were tested on multiple servers and applications, including IIS, SQL Server and Windows 2003. Leveraging an anomaly-based approach to intrusion prevention versus that of a signature or rules-based approach enabled Sana to achieve its results without unreasonable burden to IT staff even while subject to tedious vulnerability patch cycles.
"There is a great deal of effort that goes into evaluating any security product," said Suzanne Wagstaff, testing project manager at KeyLabs. "This product tested well in our enterprise environments. We were able to drill down into comprehensive security event data as well as get an eagle's eye overview of the protected systems."
Test Highlights of Sana Security's Primary Response by KeyLabs:
- Distributed Adaptive Profiling -- Enterprise wide scalability and accelerated time to deployment and protection
- Behavior Change Administration -- Increased server uptime, lowered cost of administration and improved usability
- Discrete Policy Controls -- Security Policy isolation to individual hosts and applications, enables one click policy changes to one application or host without impacting the security posture of others
- High Performance Agents -- Bootless, low CPU utilization, single agent architecture without the need for rules or signatures
- Kernel Level Real Time Protection -- Detected unexpected behavior and blocked unexpected file system execution and execution of code from unexpected memory space, including worms such as Blaster and Slammer
As the world's only host-based intrusion prevention solution based upon the principles of the human immune system, Primary Response scales to protect thousands of mission critical servers, applications, and operating systems from malicious code. The product adapts easily to legitimate system and application changes, detects and prevents aberrant behavior, and reduces vulnerability patching fire drills that overwhelm IT departments. 27.04.2004, Sana Security, Inc.
