Pointsec Mobile Technologies, a subsidiary of IT security company Protect Data, and provider of enterprise security software for laptops, desktops, PDAs and smartphones, announced a contract with a U.S. government organization. Pointsec will provide the organization with its Pointsec for Pocket PC product, for more than 2,000 users. The financial details of the contract, which will be recognized as revenue in Q2, 2004, were not disclosed.

"This contract confirms that our strategy to offer enterprise-class data protection for all leading mobile platforms is paying off", said Thomas Bill, CEO, Protect Data. "We see significant new business opportunities involving mission-critical applications on PDAs and smartphones, as mobile devices become more powerful and capable to handle tasks that used to require laptops or desktop workstations".

Pointsec is providing comprehensive access control and encryption solutions for laptops, desktops, PDAs and smartphones, supporting all major operating systems, including Symbian OS.

Other organisations across the globe that use Pointsec include the U.S. IRS (Internal Revenue Service), Capgemini, the U.S. Justice Department, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, AstraZeneca, Cisco, Ericsson and Telia.
