Sophos, protecting businesses against viruses and spam and Finjan Software, provider of proactive secure content management solutions for global companies, announced a worldwide partnership that provides Finjan customers with Sophos's protection against harmful, Internet-borne viruses, worms and malicious code attacks using Sophos's anti-virus technology.

Finjan will now integrate Sophos's powerful virus detection engine capabilities onto its proprietary security platform, fulfilling its strategy of integration with market-leading content security solutions for centralized management and ease of use for IT departments. Sophos's award winning anti-virus technology provides Finjan customers with a two-pronged defense against malware by coupling the best in virus defense with Finjan's own patented proactive behavior inspection engine.

Internet-borne viruses that arrive via e-mail or the Web are the most common methods for infiltrating a company's computer network and cause significant financial damage. Protecting an organization's IT infrastructure, confidential data and mission critical operations has become increasingly challenging to businesses around the world due to the growing trend of rapid virus propagation, social engineering and blended threat attacks. * According to a 2004 Meta Group paper, "End-User Advice on Spam and Viruses," 45% of large enterprises have been economically impacted by a virus attack in the last 12 months*. By combining the proactive behavior inspection technology of Finjan Software with Sophos's excellence in virus detection, clients will benefit from a multi-layered security solution that protects them against new, unknown Internet threats instantly, while simultaneously providing an efficient defense against widespread malicious code.

"The goal of Finjan's best-of-breed product strategy is to provide our customers the option to choose from the best market leading content security vendors to give optimal flexibility and choice," said Shlomo Touboul, founder and CEO of Finjan Software. "Integrating market leading solutions onto a single security platform eliminates the headaches associated with managing multiple single-point products in a heterogeneous network environment. We selected Sophos because of its market leadership and its demonstrated capability to consistently and expeditiously defeat known worms and viruses."

"The combination of Sophos's reliable virus protection software with Finjan's behavior-inspection technology will provide customers with the highest level of security against viruses, worms and Trojan horses," said Richard Baldry, head of strategic alliances at Sophos. "We are very pleased to partner with Finjan."
