netForensics, Inc., provider of Security Information Management (SIM), announced the immediate availability of netForensics Policy Compliance Reporting. The first release offers a framework for identifying, notifying, and reporting information to ensure devices and users accessing the network comply with established security policies.

netForensics Policy Compliance Reporting delivers information such as whether the device or user accessing the network has out-of-date antivirus code, un-patched operating systems, or any other pre-defined security policy violation. Information about the device and user is also passed to netForensics' nFX SIM platform, allowing analysts to correlate policy violations against other network events which could signify a larger exploit. Using netForensics' Incident Resolution Management, the operators can then open a case, track and ultimately remediate the violation.

"netForensics' policy reporting capability is an important component for enterprises who want to build out more effective security architectures," said Russell Rice, Mgr of Product Management for Network Admission Control (NAC) at Cisco Systems. "The combination of offerings from Cisco and netForensics delivers a more complete solution to NAC policy compliance."

"Any endpoint that connects to a network and that does not comply with that network's security policies is a potential threat," said Andrew Braunberg, senior analyst, security, Current Analysis. "Organizations, therefore, need to be more intelligent not only about who they let connect to critical corporate assets but also intelligent about the security status of everyone connecting to a network. netForensics security policy compliance and reporting solution is a large step toward this goal and it has the potential to build on emerging policy compliance frameworks, such as the Cisco NAC program. The release underscores netForensics' forward thinking approach to security and demonstrates the importance it places on a tightly integrated security infrastructure."

The nFX(TM) security operating framework combines powerful security information gathering and analyzing features with superior intelligent reporting capabilities and delivers the right information to the appropriate security and compliance teams in real-time. nFX empowers security managers to take control of enterprise security management by increasing their capacity and improving the effectiveness of their existing security teams even as their enterprise IT security device infrastructure grows.

"netForensics leads the industry in developing a holistic approach to security information management," said Patrick Guay, VP of Marketing and Product Management at netForensics. "Policy Compliance Reporting is the latest operational element that we have integrated into our security operating framework. This technology innovation ensures that all systems are assessed for comprehensive security policy compliance, which can be managed and acted upon in real time."
