Continuing to help IT security professionals solve their patch management dilemma, St. Bernard Software (www.stbernard.com) announced the immediate and full availability of UpdateEXPERT(R) 6.3. The newest version of the company's patch management software offers advanced functionality for the Microsoft Windows(R) platform and also adds patching capabilities for Red Hat Linux and Solaris operating systems.

UpdateEXPERT(R) 6.3 builds on the product's existing reputation for reliability, flexibility and ease-of-use, making it the clear leader for small to medium sized businesses that need to automate a complete patch management solution.

"This latest version of UpdateEXPERT(R) is part of our vision for St. Bernard Software; to be the leader in providing security in-depth for our customers. This means not relying on one solution to solve your security threats; but providing protection across multiple network layers," said John Jones, President and CEO of St. Bernard Software. "UpdateEXPERT(R) 6.3 fills the specific needs of small to medium sized businesses that struggle with critical patch management issues. There is no easier, more scaleable or affordable patch management product on the market. Over 9,000 customers rely on us to provide them with the essential security solutions that they need."

The added features and functionality of UpdateEXPERT(R) 6.3 are a result of recent changes in market trends for patch management as well as extensive feedback from customers as to what they need to successfully manage their infrastructure security easily and reliably. Among the product's significant new features:

* Patch rollback capability for previous configurations
* Scanning by IP Range and Subnet to locate all manageable computers
* Reboot Notification for clients
* Named Master Agents managed from console
* Database Size Reduction
* Multi-Locale Support for adding new languages rapidly

"The vast majority of security exploits target known vulnerabilities. Companies can solve critical security issues that are essential to operating any business if they follow a comprehensive patch management program," Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC. "St. Bernard Software recognizes this and have zeroed in on providing patch management solutions for small to mid size businesses, a market that is underserved but requires solutions tailored to their unique business requirements."
