McAfee, Inc., provider of intrusion prevention solutions, announced that McAfee(R) SecurityShield(TM) for Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 customers has achieved "Verified by VeriTest" validation through VeriTest, the testing division of Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (LIOX) for "Microsoft ISA Server 2004 test for ISV Solutions." McAfee SecurityShield is one of the first secure content management security solutions to complete testing by VeriTest. This verification provides IT administrators with the assurance that McAfee SecurityShield executes correctly on Windows Server-based servers, installs and uninstalls cleanly and complies with Microsoft security requirements.

McAfee SecurityShield works with ISA Server 2000 and 2004, an advanced application layer firewall, VPN and Web cache solution, to help enterprise customers secure the content entering and leaving their organization through secure content management functionality and performance. McAfee SecurityShield is part of the McAfee Secure Content Management solutions family and is designed to help small to large enterprises optimize resources, increase productivity and prevent industry and company policy compromises.

With verification testing conducted by VeriTest, McAfee users are assured that McAfee SecurityShield will perform as expected and that it integrates efficiently and effectively into ISA Server 2004 environments. Today, VeriTest is Microsoft's sole provider of independent testing for Windows certification. Together, both companies have established technical standards for identifying applications that run more securely and reliably on the Microsoft family of operating systems.

"VeriTest put McAfee SecurityShield through a stringent analysis," said Katrina Teague, vice president of marketing and solutions at VeriTest. "McAfee SecurityShield has met important standards, as defined by Microsoft, for a secure and reliable content security solution. IT administrators using McAfee SecurityShield can now be more confident that their vital applications will perform as expected."

"The Microsoft verification demonstrates our commitment to working closely with Microsoft to achieve interoperability on Windows Server-based platforms," said Steve Crutchfield, director of product marketing for McAfee, Inc. "With VeriTest verification, McAfee SecurityShield customers operating in a Microsoft environment have the validation they need to help better protect themselves from malicious code, spam and inappropriate content attempting to enter their systems, while avoiding unnecessary network disruption."

"Customers have told us that they want easy to deploy solutions to help make their networks more resilient in the presence of malicious content and viruses," said Steven Brown, director of product management, Microsoft Security Business & Technology Unit. "By deploying ISA Server 2004 with the McAfee SecurityShield technology, customers will have a stronger defense against new and emerging threats, all in a straight-forward, reliable and easy to configure firewall."

Other McAfee solutions that have completed testing by VeriTest include McAfee(R) GroupShield(TM) for Microsoft Exchange. McAfee GroupShield for Microsoft Exchange achieved "Microsoft Certified for Windows Server 2003" status through VeriTest, the sole provider of independent testing for Windows certification, in September 2004.
